Second opinions & specialists

When to push further, who to see, and how to prepare for appointments so nothing gets missed.

You are allowed to ask for a second opinion. If your child’s recovery stalls, or the answers don’t add up, a specialist — a concussion clinic, a neurologist, a specialist in pediatric brain injury — can make a real difference.

Before each appointment, write down your questions and a timeline of symptoms. Bring a list of medications and any records you have. It’s hard to remember everything in the moment; the list does the remembering for you.
